Wishing for more sleep

Everyone says that babies start sleeping longer at 3 months. Every so often, we get a 5-1/2 hr stint but it always seems to revert back to 3-4 hr intervals. They get so fussy that we end up bringing them in bed to get more sleep - and I had never thought we would all fit!

First Snow!

The first snow of the 2011/2012 winter occurred while we were in San Francisco. We were a little worried since SeaTac airport was closed the day before our flight home.

The girls did awesome again on the flight. They practically slept the whole time! Hopefully, they won't need another few days to get back to their schedule!

Appreciating each moment

I've heard from various people lately to appreciate every moment with the babies as it goes so very fast. And as I'm staring at these sleeping babies, I realize how much they have changed in these two months. Looking back, it seems time flew by but when you're sleep deprived, time seems to go very slow.

I love how the girls' personalities are starting to show. Annie is starting to talk back to you if you carry a conversation with her and it thrills me that she is smiling more. I still melt whenever I see Nessa's smile of joy...even when she's sleeping. These steps are small but are an overwhelming reminder that there are so many changes to come.

I sometimes can't believe that these two human beings literally came out of me. A random lady who was a 'reader' of sorts came up to us and said that the girls are reincarnated angels. I can totally believe that. These angels chose us somehow...and have changed our world view forever. I will be always grateful for this opportunity.

First Airplane Ride

We made it! We took the girls to see Chris' family in the Bay area. They were so good on the plane! I think we had too many hand carrys as there was a bit of juggling or at least with flight attendants holding babies as we put on the Ergo baby carriers. Now that we got the hang of it, the girls seem pretty content. I can't wait for when we don't need the infant inserts!

The trip has been great so far. A shower for the girls got a whole load of more clothes. Carters should be giving us stock! We tried out our new jogging stroller as well. The BabyJogger City Elite is one smooth ride! It folds in a jiffy and truly does fit most doors. Although, I still have to say that our Britax B-Ready with the extra seat is much more preferable for shopping in malls.

Chris family loves these girls and it's nice to see. Who knows...maybe we'll finally move down someday. Three-yr-old cousin Caitlyn was always trying to be so helpful with changing and feeding.

Annie started talking more when she's alert so it makes things more fun. Now if Nessa and Annie would speak to each other...that would make a great video!

It looks like Seattle got hit pretty good with the first snowfall. Thank goodness we're not there! Chris is a bit sad to be missing the opportunity to drive in the snow.

Wish us luck on flying back. At least Chris' dad will be with us to give us an extra hand! Wish is luck!

Happy 2 Month Birthday!

Today my twins turn 2 months old!  Time sure does fly which is why I am attempting to start this blog.  I want to remember their childhood as much as I can and keep it here so they can read it some day.  Chris and I waited so long to have them that I want them to know that even though there will be moments that will be very trying...they are loved beyond measure.

The biggest challenge these days is sleep.  The intervals of feeding are about 4 hours but that doesn't mean that they are asleep the entire four hours, especially at night.  As we approach the critical 12 weeks that everyone talks about, I hope the times between waking up at night gets longer.  We've been lucky a few nights which gives me hope but then one of the twins gets off kilter and wakes me up a lot.  Last night they took turns being fussy and I don't think I got more than 2 hours sleep total.  For some reason, I'm alert right now which is why I'm taking the time to set this up.

Why "Ladybug and Butterfly"?  Well...the name Vanessa is a species of butterfly and when possible, we give the butterfly things to her.  They received car seat dangle toys of a butterfly and a ladybug - so naturally, the ladybug went to Annelise "Annie".

Interacting with them is getting more fun (when they are awake and alert - and not crying).   Vanessa seems to look at the world with laughter...I love hearing her coo to me like we're having a conversation.  Her smiles melt my heart as they are given so freely and she looks so happy.  Annie is full of emotions and her eyes take in everything with such wonder.  She smiles in her sleep more than when awake at the moment but you can tell she's happy because she smiles with her eyes.  I wouldn't say that she's not smiling, but she's usually trying to mouth noses like she's trying to get her thoughts out.

Well, I'm starting to yawn and the next feeding is no less than 30 minutes away (hopefully!).  Cheers to beginning this new activity!  Hopefully, Chris will be posting his musings occasionally so this will be a testament of both our perspectives.
