Today my twins turn 2 months old! Time sure does fly which is why I am attempting to start this blog. I want to remember their childhood as much as I can and keep it here so they can read it some day. Chris and I waited so long to have them that I want them to know that even though there will be moments that will be very trying...they are loved beyond measure.
The biggest challenge these days is sleep. The intervals of feeding are about 4 hours but that doesn't mean that they are asleep the entire four hours, especially at night. As we approach the critical 12 weeks that everyone talks about, I hope the times between waking up at night gets longer. We've been lucky a few nights which gives me hope but then one of the twins gets off kilter and wakes me up a lot. Last night they took turns being fussy and I don't think I got more than 2 hours sleep total. For some reason, I'm alert right now which is why I'm taking the time to set this up.
Why "Ladybug and Butterfly"? Well...the name Vanessa is a species of butterfly and when possible, we give the butterfly things to her. They received car seat dangle toys of a butterfly and a ladybug - so naturally, the ladybug went to Annelise "Annie".
Interacting with them is getting more fun (when they are awake and alert - and not crying). Vanessa seems to look at the world with laughter...I love hearing her coo to me like we're having a conversation. Her smiles melt my heart as they are given so freely and she looks so happy. Annie is full of emotions and her eyes take in everything with such wonder. She smiles in her sleep more than when awake at the moment but you can tell she's happy because she smiles with her eyes. I wouldn't say that she's not smiling, but she's usually trying to mouth noses like she's trying to get her thoughts out.
Well, I'm starting to yawn and the next feeding is no less than 30 minutes away (hopefully!). Cheers to beginning this new activity! Hopefully, Chris will be posting his musings occasionally so this will be a testament of both our perspectives.
